Raheem Sterling is a role model for young people, says Watford captain Troy Deeney

Watford captain Troy Deeney has commended Raheem Sterling for the way he says he’s become a role model for young individuals also has handled racist abuse.
Sterling has been the topic of racist abuse at times throughout his career and was targeted again during England’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Bulgaria at Wembley on Saturday.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed there was a man detained on suspicion of a public order offence but enquiries , he was released with no further action.
When asked if racism has increased in the past few years, Deeney told Sky Sports:”The inquiry is, did it ever go away? That could be the question.
“I believe we are living in a time where we could emphasize it so much simpler. We can emphasize it with social media and Raheem has been the face and talking point for all.
“The very best thing he’s done is come out and talked about it that for many young kids coming up today should be the headline of exactly things to do. If you find an issue, talk about it.”
Back in April, Deeney stated he and his family were subjected on websites after the FA Cup success against Wolves of Watford.
The Watford striker responded by disabling comments on his Instagram account after he obtained what he claims were abusive messages out of”small-minded individuals”, and he expects social media firms are finally beginning to take note.
“Naturally you’ve got to begin with social networking since it is so strong now,” Deeney explained.
“Hopefully Twitter, Instagram and these types of social networking platforms may find an understanding of what it’s like from a participant’s standpoint and a normal individual on the road, because we are almost in 2020 and they shouldn’t be suffering that.
“We must keep working and keep doing everything we can to transfer this world ahead.”
